Constitution

1. The aims of the club are as follows:
   1. To enable anybody, of any ability, to play in practice and competitively.
   2. To encourage fair play and good spirit in practice and in competitive play.
   3. To improve the fitness, stamina, strength and ability of all players.
   4. To enable those who would like to, to play at the highest level possible.
   5. To offer people the chance to make new friends.


2. Nobody will be discriminated against regarding their race, nationality, sexuality, class, gender, ability, looks, or any other matter not listed.



3. The introduction of new ideas from all members will be actively encouraged.



4. The club shall hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) once a year. It is suggested that the election of the following year’s committee take place at this meeting. General Meetings (GM) may be called once a term by the committee if they so wish and Extraordinary General Meetings (EGM) may be held on other occasions where the committee deems it necessary or upon receipt, by the committee, of a request from 6 different members of the club.



5. A voting member will be defined as anybody who:
   1. Attends training on a regular basis.
   2. Has paid their membership fee.
   3. Owns a valid Sporty Card
   4. Special rules will apply to all those on a year (or other period of time) out or to those who are injured for a prolonged period. Players who are not able to train on a regular basis will be allowed to become a voting member at the discretion of the President and Captain.


6. All voting members will be allowed to vote on club matters raised at an AGM, GM or EGM. A majority vote of at least 50% will be required for all motions. Motions may be put forward by any voting member. Constitutional change will require a vote of at least 2/3rds majority.
7. Following consultation with fellow committee members, the agenda for committee meetings will be compiled and the meeting chaired by the President, except in the exceptional circumstances provided for in points 10 and 11. Minutes will be taken by any other member of the committee not chairing that meeting. Any member of the committee may request that the committee meet.



8. The committee will consist of:
   1. President - Responsible for overall running of the club - On the mandate form.
   2. Treasurer - Responsible for the financial running of the club and equipment - On the mandate form.
   3. Captain - Responsible for the team at all competitive games (except women’s only) and to act as vice president when necessary.
   4. Women’s Captain - Responsible for the team at women’s competitive games, also responsible for encouraging and supporting the enrolment of women.
   5. Social Secretary - Responsible for organising the club’s socials.
   6. Tournament Organiser - Responsible for assisting the president in organising travel and accommodation at tournaments and for helping to organise our own tournaments.
